Melasma Control
Melasma Control is a PicoStar laser and skincare programme designed to help manage stubborn facial pigmentation, uneven skin tone, and melasma-prone skin.
Melasma is one of the most difficult forms of pigmentation to treat because it is influenced by several factors, including sun exposure, heat, hormones, genetics, inflammation, and skin sensitivity. Therefore, successful treatment usually requires a careful, structured plan rather than a single aggressive session.
At Riverbanks Clinic, the Melasma Control package is designed to treat pigmentation gently and progressively, while also supporting the skin with medical-grade brightening skincare.
What is included?
- Four PicoStar laser treatments for melasma and pigmentation control
- One Alastin A-Luminate Brightening Serum
- A gentle, progressive pigmentation protocol
- Clinical guidance on SPF, skincare, and heat avoidance
- Doctor-led treatment planning at Riverbanks Clinic
What can Melasma Control help with?
This package may help improve:
- Melasma
- Hormonal pigmentation
- Patchy facial pigmentation
- Uneven skin tone
- Brown patches on the cheeks, forehead, upper lip, or jawline
- Skin dullness linked to pigmentation
- Overall skin brightness and clarity
How does it work?
PicoStar uses ultra-short laser pulses to target excess pigment in the skin with precision. Because the energy is delivered very quickly, treatment can help break down unwanted pigment while aiming to minimise unnecessary heat in the surrounding skin.
This is especially important in melasma-prone skin, as too much heat or inflammation can sometimes make pigmentation worse. Therefore, the Melasma Control package uses a careful, step-by-step approach to help improve the appearance of pigmentation while supporting the skin barrier.
Alastin A-Luminate Brightening Serum is included to support the results and help manage the appearance of uneven pigmentation between treatments.
When will I see results?
Results usually build gradually over the course of treatment. Some patients notice that their skin looks brighter and fresher early in the programme. However, pigmentation typically improves over several weeks as the skin responds.
Melasma can recur, especially after sun exposure, heat, hormonal changes, or inflammation. For this reason, daily SPF, consistent skincare, and maintenance treatments may be recommended.
Downtime and recovery
Downtime is usually minimal. You may experience temporary redness, warmth, mild sensitivity, or darkening of pigment before it starts to fade.
After treatment, it is important to avoid sun exposure, heat, saunas, steam rooms, and strong active skincare until advised by your clinician. Strict daily SPF is essential.
Important to know
Melasma is a chronic condition and cannot be permanently cured. However, with the right treatment plan, skincare, and long-term maintenance, it can often be significantly improved and better controlled.
